Before anything, I'd like to say that even though this blog is written in English, I recommend you to do as I did and read the books I criticise in their original language (if you can). This way you'll like them much more and you'll find astute word games and double meanings which will help you read the book in all of its potential.

Gone - Michael Grant

Criticism:

This book, the first of a series of six books written by Michael Grant, is easy, surprising, funny, touching and original. Mostly unexpected. Being a book that has a fantasy plot, it is very plausible and the reader falls very easily, without realizing that he/she is starting to believe something absolutely impossible. This book makes the reader forget the world and takes them inside itself. Furthermore, without aiming to, it makes the reader think- mostly if the reader is young- in what would happen if they found themselves in the same situations as the main characters. It is also a very quick book to read, it has tension, action, romance, some humour, mystery... everything that a book of its genre needs. It is very good for both girls and boys, but I think it is mostly written for young people of between 9 and 16 years of age. It left me wanting to read the rest of the series, which I'll comment once I finish it or advance in it.
The characters are very realistic and the reader starts to empathise a lot with all of them- not just the main characters, which is quite remarcable. There are characters for every type of reader, and from my experience I think that many types of people will like this book. Furthermore, it suits both the lazy readers and the enthusiastic ones, because the book is short and very easy but exciting and very well written.
