Before anything, I'd like to say that even though this blog is written in English, I recommend you to do as I did and read the books I criticise in their original language (if you can). This way you'll like them much more and you'll find astute word games and double meanings which will help you read the book in all of its potential.

White Tiger - Aravind Adiga

Criticism:

This book is very original, realistic and written in such an impersonal but at the same time expert way that it seems that a narrator next to you is telling you the story but you're picking up everything that happens with complete ease. The style is personal and singular, and the story is very different to that of most books. It has humour but doesn't stop being serious, and it seems like it is happening in the real world. Another thing that I like about this book is that it happens in Delhi, India; and as I read it just after visiting that city, I was able to perceive how well described it was and how beleivable the story was. Even so, there are parts in it that I didn't like at all and the book didn't grab me a lot; but it was curious, different and a style of book that has to be read from time to time because it is very different from the regular one, leaving the reader a funny but bitter aftertaste.
