Before anything, I'd like to say that even though this blog is written in English, I recommend you to do as I did and read the books I criticise in their original language (if you can). This way you'll like them much more and you'll find astute word games and double meanings which will help you read the book in all of its potential.

Renglones Torcidos de Dios - Torcuato Luca de Tena

Criticism:

This is a really interesting book that I would recommend to anyone older than 12 years, and that gripped me a lot and also was, for me, very enriching. It made me ponder the subjects in it, and although it is quite calm and has very little action, it is not slow or dense. Contrarily, it is a very quick read, although there are some parts or descriptions that some people may think are unnecessary, but the author manages to make everything very reallistic; so much that I, personally, would beleive
it if I was told that it is based on real events. Furthermore, the language is very learned and correct and this, instead of making the text tedious, makes it more light and quick; and is at the same time very close to the reader, so the book is more gripping. It is a book that, is simply extremely well written and structured while having a very good plot. In the other hand, there are some moments that are quite hard, but that introduce and make the reader think about some facts to which we are normally oblivious.
The ending is beautiful and unexpected, and moreover very original. It is quite open, permitting the reader decide alone their own belief. The only complaint I have is that I, personally, was a bit let down by the last conversation between Alice and Ignacio Urquieta, although I think that had I written the book I wouldn't have changed it because there was no other option; but that was what I liked less as in this book I didn't only empathise with the main character but also with the rest of the characters, and in some cases even more so with other characters that weren't her.
This is not an excessively romantic book, nor is it written for action and hard emotion in its pure state. It isn't a terror book either, nor a tense one. It is, simply, a book to read, not too intense but that in some way is very well written and very easy to enjoy.
